Were 'Next Level' now. 20m players sat on the bench is par for the course.

Don't believe this for a second. Rice is the future

Re: James Collins set to return.
I’m genuinely confused as to how we have paid over 20 mill on a defender who isn’t starting.

Can anyone explain?

We are not bringing anymore players in and no more will go out

Says Manuel Pellegrini when asked about James Collins

Is the 25 man squad for all competitions or just the league?

The FA runs the cup right? and the other cups are all run differently. So is it conceivable that you could sign an out of contract player to play in cup games?

Re: James Collins set to return.
For the past few seasons Ginge has been our 3/4th best CB, and yet our best CB pairing has invariably been Ginge + A.N.Other.

Read, Ogbonna, Rice and the rest aren't vocal enough and can't organise a defence for shit. Nor could any of our keepers. That's why, when fit, he would usually be preferred to players who were his 'betters.

Not buying someone who could replace that attribute has been criminal.

I'm sure if we do sign him it will later emerge that we've somehow broken the rules and end up owing Sheffield United 40m.

This is like a flashback to re-signing Dowie and Steve Jones.

Thankfully it won't happen

And here's an article from the same paper contradicting that...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/transfer-deadline-day-can-free-13044460

"They won't be able to sign out-of-contract players until January."

I suppose one bit of evidence that would finally decide it is if a PL club signs a free agent after the window closed. Hasn't happened yet.

Each team have submitted a provisional squad, but they won't be published until after the European windows shut.

Re: James Collins set to return.
There's been nothing released showing every Premier League's 25 man squad this season. You'd think that if it was set in stone they'd be something on the Premier Leeage website similar to previous seasons.

Andd along with V suggesting no changes can be made leads me to think free agents can be added to the squad.

Buster is right, Alex V is wrong.

Might as well sign up Carlton while we’re at it, could do with some goals
